Ever wonder where and when your Mac is manufactured? Using it’s serial number, you can identify these information.
To check your Mac’s serial number, click the Apple logo > About This Mac. Click the version number (located under the Mac OS X text) twice. Browse for the website chipmunk.nl and type in your serial number in the text box provided and click the button just below the box.
Another way of retrieving your Mac’s info, is by using coconut-flavour.com‘s free app called coconutIdentityCard. Now on it’s version 2.4, this app determines your Mac’s build date and location. It can also retrieve these information for other Apple products like the iPod. The app also checks your serial against internet databases of stolen Apple products. But according to the website, a negative result doesn’t guarantee that the product isn’t stolen.
